Performing Arts

Students have the opportunity to participate in beginning, intermediate, or advance band, and beginning or advanced choir. A magnet orchestra program is also available for middle school students from Linus Pauling, Cheldelin, and Franklin. Join us!

Band

Beginning Band is designed for students new to band. Class members do not need any previous musical experience to have fun and be successful. Intermediate Band is designed for second year band students. Students will continue their learning by developing their musical technique, listening and performance skills. Advanced Band is designed for band students who typically have been playing for two years, or are already working at a faster pace.

Choir

LP offers 3 different choir classes, depending on the grade level and experience of students. 6th grade students participate in Cantaré, our beginning level choir. 7th and 8th graders with no previous middle choir experience participate in Coro Anima, our intermediate level choir. 7th and 8th graders who have at least one year of middle school choir may join Coro Allegro, our advanced choir. 7th and 8th graders who have at least one year of band, orchestra or private lessons but no choral experience may audition with Mrs. Gollmann to join Coro Allegro.

Each choir performs a wide variety of styles of music, and sings in multiple languages. Solo opportunities are available throughout the year, as well as other opportunities for singing throughout the year.

Any students interested in joining choir should meet with Mrs. Gollmann.

Orchestra

The middle school orchestra program is taught as a magnet class at Linus Pauling including students from Cheldelin, Franklin and Linus Pauling Middle Schools.
